Welcome to Sombra del Monte Elementary School.

Our learning community is designed to provide challenging and enriching opportunities for our children. Our teachers work together to provide your children with a standards based education. Teachers will be participating in professional development, collaboration, and in-service trainings centered around six components of a core reading program, math exemplars, standards base education system, differentiated instruction and curriculum mapping.

Sombra del Monte uses researched based Investigations Math program and the Four Blocks Format to teach reading. We emphasize technology using high interest manipulative based science kits and a new computer lab.

We ask that parents partner with us and help their children arrive at the school ready to learn. Learning is hard work and requires consistent effort on the parent of and all adults in the child's life. Please make sure your child arrives by 8:45. School will begin at 8:45! We will do all we can to establish and maintain links between home and school.

We work very hard to create a pleasant and supportive environment for employees and students. We encourage and support community involvement in all school activities. We model collaborative team building, decision making planning teams and study groups.
